Not only Almond Milk

Milk from a nut?

It was not that long ago that Almond milk was the new thing. According to reports, sales of almond milk have been skyrocketing by more than 250 percent over the past five years.

Today, you can think beyond almonds and extend into milk made from cashews, hazelnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, and pistachios. These nut milks are an excellent source of protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. The taste is creamy, and there is a natural sweetness and silkiness with this milk. They are non-dairy though.

Nut milks are perfect for use in smoothies, coffee, oatmeal, and muesli. Nondairy milks can be used in almost every recipe that calls for milk. Many coffeehouses carry non-dairy options, although often they charge extra when it is ordered.

Watch for these brands to try:

Milkadamia is a buttery treat from the taste of macadamia nuts. This carton is a good source of Vitamin E too.

Silk Protein has both almond milk and cashew milk that is combined with pea protein to give a good punch of protein. Many vegans search for this at the store.

Also, seek out trying Pistachio nut milk, or Maple Pecan milk, or Hazelnut milk.
